About Winter Shares
Our winter share program provides our CSA members with fresh greens, carrots and herbs, along with a large assortment of storage crops thought the winter months! This is our 8th season growing food in unheated greenhouse throughout the winter. Four years in Colorado and now for four years in North Idaho. Greens and carrots that are grown in the cold environment will be the sweetest you have ever tasted.
What: We offer 10 preboxed pick ups during the winter months. Pick up is twice a month. Usually starting the second week in November and ending in March
Where: Mountain Cloud Farm, Clark Fork Idaho
When: Pick up is extended over 3 days. Starting Thursday after 3pm until Saturday 3pm. Twice a month from November through March
Why: Eat seasonally, support your local farmer and know where and how your food is produced, even in the winter!
Cost: Members pay at each pick up. Share cost varies depending on what we are able to harvest. However the share cost usually ranges from $55 to $60
How does it work? Share members make no commitment during the winter season. We send out an email every other week the Monday or Tuesday prior to pick up and if you want a share you just email us back. However we have limited shares available and can't guarentee a share unless you pay the $100 deposit
What do I get? Our winter shares usually consist of the following: One pound of greens, usually an assortment of salad, spinach, heads of lettuce, arugula or spicy mix, a large bunch of kale or chard, five pounds of potatoes, 5 pounds of onions, four garlic bulbs, one extra large bunch of fresh carrots, winter squash and sometimes cilantro, parsley, rosemary and sometimes storage crops of cabbage, beets, kohlrabi, parsnips, daikon, turnips or radishes. We also provide a la carte items of eggs, extra greens or anything that suits your fancy.
How many people does a share feed? This totally depends on your eating habits, but generally between 2 to 4 folks.
Payments: A $100 deposit will guarantee you get a winter share for every pick up
