2017 Apprentice Program
Learn how to farm on a diversified small scale no till farm with a strong emphasis on soil health and four season vegetable production. You will also aid with general fruit tree maintenance and berry production. Work with a permanent bed system and with movable and stationary high tunnels. Learn about marketing through a CSA program and farmers' market. If interested, you will also have the opportunity to participate with animal management. This includes daily animal chores, pasture rotation, milking goats and butchering. Apprentices are always welcome to join us when preserving and fermenting food, making soap, salves or tinctures.
April through October 2017. We strongly recommend apprentices stay for at least three months however to receive the most from our program we highly suggest a stay of six months.
Our farm is located two miles outside of Clark Fork Idaho up a river valley in the Cabinet mountain range. Thirty miles from Sandpoint, Idaho, six miles from the Montana border, three hours from Missoula and two and half hours from Spokane.
As an apprentice at Mountain Cloud Farm you will gain the experience to further your farming adventure. Most days will be spent working side by side with the farmer.
Tuesday through Saturday, 40 hours a week
A stipend of $50 a week is provided to folks who commit to three months. Plus, an end of season bonus is provided to folks who commit to the entire 6 month season.
Work day lunches are prepared and eaten together. All other meals are prepared on your own with food we provide: seasonal produce, goat milk, goat cheese, eggs, our farm raised pork, chicken, lamb, goat and beef. Plus store bought staples.
Housing includes a camper or tipi with an outdoor covered kitchen space, running water, outdoor shower, composting toilet and privacy. You will also have access to laundry and internet connection.
Swimming in nearby creeks and lakes, endless hiking and camping opportunities, fishing, canoeing, mushroom hunting, horseback riding and mountain biking.
